93 SC Project Tracker

With the weather warming up, my thoughts are turning to my race car project. That thing that's been sitting in my garage for a year, and prior to that was kinda that and kinda this. I've pretty much decided it is heading in the direction of more race and less street car. That process is going to start this spring when I make room in the garage to start pulling the existing car apart. I'm pretty much dropping any hope of completion in 2012, but I think the time taken will be well worth it. I intend to end up with a well sorted car when I'm done.

This should be the last weekend I have to work for at least a while. So the plan is to start getting the garage setup for the tear down next weekend.
Tear down is going to start with pulling the motor, exhaust, driveshaft and fuel tank.
Initial work. Pull the heads and the pan. Pan to replace due to the crack. Heads and deck to be checked for any warping. Main bearings checked for damage from oil loss. Pull the front cover and check the cam bolt, recheck cam degree, and possibly zero it up if i was right the first time and it is off.

Numerous work will occur, much of this year will be repairing issues, verifying the motor, cleaning up the chassis, and cleaning the patchwork of wiring that has been done by me over the past 5 years and accumulate some more parts. Intercooler plumbing and methanol injection is getting reworked as well. And attention to packaging for the heat exchanger and improving overall heat exchanger and radiator performance will take place. Reworking the bumper cover, and bumper will be involved.

I'll start following up with a long of what I'm working on and pictures over the next few months. Initial stuff won't be all that interesting, but the basics are as important as the cool stuff.

I need to find someone that to some aluminum fab work on a budget too, not cheap, but fair. (mod exiting intake manifold and blower inlet plenum, or start over for both).

So I've been talking to some companies for various employment options. I was talking to a company located in Plymouth in the Minneapolis area. Problem is I know nothing about cost of housing or what areas are good/bad.

Is plymouth a good place to live? How much is a nice 3 bedroom house with a 2+ stall garage? What community colleges are in the area?

I don't want an hour drive in the morning stuck in traffic...

Back into an MN12

Well I am back into that family again. I have a 89 Mustang hatch that I dropped a 302 into with a C4 but havent seem to find the time to finish it up and was looking for a car that needs a little less work to be on the road and came accross this one. 91 Cougar XR-7 302HO with the AOD. Trans is out so I will be rebuilding it and puttin in a high stall converter. Only major problem I have found other then the trans is the guy before me dumped it into a ditch in the winter and then did a hack job with the bumper and didnt put in a new header panel so the headlights are all jacked up. But I should have it on the road in a couple weeks once the shop gets a tractor out of it so I can get this up on stands and pull the trans. Just wanted to share with you guys! Been a while since I was on the board!
