2008 NETC Dyno Days May 9-10 Lincoln, NE Schedule of Events: Friday – Road Tuning, Baseline Pulls, NETC Club Dinner Saturday – Dyno Tuning Costs: SCU Tuning Fees $125 - $325 +DynoSport Dyno Fees $75/HR +SCT Hardware – contact Dave at mdkracing@alltel.net Baseline Dyno Pulls (2-3), no tuning $50 Tuning Details: Tuning will be available for any EEC-IV or OBDII Ford Vehicle built prior to 2005. Tuning is a two day event with off-dyno calibration and then a dyno tuning session the next day. You must be available for both days. Typical off-dyno times are 1-2 hours and may involve wrenching if a mechanical problem exists. The dyno session typically runs 1 hour. If a mechanical problem arises during the off-dyno session on Friday, you will have some time to get it resolved before dyno tuning but if the car is still not able to be tuned due to a mechanical issue, there will be no refunds. Cost Details: Tuning cost is tiered based on participation. The more people that sign up, the cheaper it gets for everyone. The registration deadline is April 15th. Send me a PM for Payment Info 8 Participants - $125 each The hourly Dyno fee charged by DynoSport and the cost of any SCT hardware needed are fixed, regardless of participation and are in addition to the SCU tuning fees. If you need a chip, or would like to get an XCAL2 Tuner (OBDII Only), you will need to contact Dave directly at mdkracing@alltel.net to purchase it before that weekend. Payment Requirements: All required tuning hardware must be purchased and installed prior to the event. Once the final roll call is determined and cost per person is known, payments must be sent to Dave by April 15th, before he will make travel plans. Late entries after the cutoff date can generate partial refunds for those who registered early should that happen. Deposits are not required for non-tuning dyno time on Friday. You still need to pre-register with Thomas so he can schedule you in. DynoSport accepts cash (preferred), checks, or credit card. TUNE: 1. Thomas '89 Cougar XR7 - PAID 2. Rodney '93 Thunderbird SC - PAID 3. Eron '94 Thunderbird SC - PAID 4. Bear '90 Thunderbird SC - PAID 5. Ken '93 Thunderbird SC - PAID 6. Mike H '93 Thunderbird SC - PAID 7. Michael M '90 Thunderbird SC - PAID 8. Xan '96 Thunderbird LX BASELINE: 1. Doug - 97 Thunderbird Tuning Notes: Inadequate fuel delivery and faulty ignition components are the leading causes of unsuccessful tuning. When in doubt, replace, and it never hurts to have a spare of just about everything on hand just in case. Check your belts, tensioners, fluids, and add-on electrical components before the tune, and have your EEC down for easy access. Please also check to make sure that an 02 sensor can be removed. If a sensor can’t be removed due to seized threads, a tune may not be able to be performed. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&...040169&z=15 (IMG:http://www.dynosport.com/header.jpg) This post has been edited by Thomas A: May 8 2008, 11:55 AM |

I'm always ready to help. Let me know when you are ready to drop the motor and trans in, and I'll see if I can make it out for the day.
111 days and counting. At least it is a leap year, so you get an extra day in February. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grin.gif) Thomas |

Dave is not an E85 god, and didn't seem interested it on my car, thus I need to by the racer pro package. I bet if there is interest though, he would give it a shot since he just has to tweak his expectations for A/F. I'd see if he wants to try.

I would like a baseline for sure. Count me in.
I am a maybe on the tune. I am not sure if I need a tune on the modifications I have made this winter. I will be adding a lower crank pulley and will hopefully have a double intercooler by then. Any thoughts on whether a tune would be beneficial to me? Bear |

Hey Bear, welcome to the forums. I went ahead an put you down for a baseline with a possible tune. I think the best solution would be to drop Dave a quick email and ask him what he thinks.

With a 90sc, the addition of the lower crank pulley won't be too bad as far as adding heat, but I think you really want to get that double intercooler on there, or some other method to cool the intake charge (methanol injection).
If you can get the double intercooler, plus that lower crank pulley, I would expect a fairly significant benefit from a tune. I agree, though, e-mail dave and see what his thoughts are. he has worked with many SC cars so his experience with what changes produce what results can really help you pin down what you want to do. For others... If you haven't' changed your fuel filter in a while, I'd do it before the dyno event. A plugged fuel filter can result in some terribly frustrating number son the dyno. |

Important Update!!
Due to the generous support of a sponsor, we have been able to lower the costs for everyone. A sponsor came forward and offered to subsidize the costs to help increase participation. The original post has been updated to reflect these changes. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/w00t.gif) We now have 5 spots spoken for, with 3 remaining. If there are more then 8 people wanting tuned, we will address the issue when it arrives. Until then we will worry about filling all 8 positions. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/yes.gif) Thomas |
